MKE WEEK 31 — ANOTHER WATTLES IN RHYME

Chapter XIX — THE SCIENCE OF BEING GREAT — A View of Evolution

As mentioned in three of my most recent posts, the MKE Elite MM Program covers the exquisite Wallace Wattles’ trilogy, THE SCIENCE OF BEING GREAT, THE SCIENCE OF BEING WELL, and THE SCIENCE OF BEING RICH. Students in this program are given chapters in these three classics to interpret for oral presentation to the class. What follows is my interpretation of Chapter 19, as noted in the subtitle above.

Chapter 19 is divided into 11 parts – letters a through K

[a] As I Ayn Rand made it quite clear both literally with her philosophy of objectivism and figuratively with her masterpiece “Atlas Shrugged” if we’re not careful our wonderful human trait to help others can be used against us, and it’s almost as if we’ve just been mugged. Even worse, as has been the fate of many, we might even be plugged.

[b] As we stand, a noble self-directed thinking crew seeing the world crumbling around us, it seems imperative we take a step back and think what on this earth can I do. Fortunately, we can take solace in the fact that God is with us in this world is a good world, and though it isn’t perfect yet, nevertheless, for God in his certain way, it is certainly on track.

[c] Let us go back to the beginning of time when the earth was still cooling and nothing existed, not even primordial slime.

[d] It’s quite reasonable to suppose that a single-celled organism was the first living creature to appear. We, as humans, are still a long way off, however, against the backdrop of infinite time and infinite space, we are really quite near.

[e] One cell was followed by another cell, then another, then another, and before we knew it, yet God knew it, animal and plant life had arisen in every shape form and dimension, some of them so unbelievable they almost escape human comprehension.

[f] Then as the obelisk in 2001 a space Odyssey metaphorically provides the God force, the spiritual force, does what it can, and behold the apelike creature we now call man.

[g] biblical teachings tell us about man’s struggle upward to the place where it has currently gotten, and is Wattles clearly points out in letter I, most of this was certainly quite rotten.

[j] through all this sorrow, hardship, and pain, as always been God’s plan to bring us Homo sapiens to a much higher plane. For the glue that keeps us together and growing to heights far above is that one special ingredient in the English language we call love.

[k] And it is this force alone, it’s quite okay to become dependent because what is soon to arise to our wondering eyes is truly transcendent, resplendent like the most thundering surprise.
